Portİzmir – Çanakkale Biennial Exhibitions “Reminiscence”
The “Reminiscence” exhibitions, which are part of the “Izmir and Çanakkale / Co-Thinking on Reminiscences of Contemporary Art” project, realized by the K2 Contemporary Art Association and Çanakkale Biennial Initiative CABININ, with the support of Space for Culture, can be visited online for a month as of December 2.
In addition to sharing the same geography, the Portİzmir and Çanakkale Biennial also share their sensitivities on contemporary art, participatory and horizontal organization models based on civil society, and the dynamism they create at the city scale. With the one-month program focusing on issues such as the sustainability of the memory of the periodical events, the visibility of the production and sharing processes, the permanence of contemporary art memory at the city scale, a future-oriented model and strategy will be outlined.
The “Reminiscence” exhibitions, which can be visited online for a month as of December 2nd, present a selection of artworks inspired by these cities, produced or exhibited within the scope of the Portİzmir and Çanakkale Biennials. Projects and works by Ali M. Demirel, Behçet Aktaş, Hakan Kırdar, Quatuor Elementa, Ramazan Bayrakoğlu, Tomislav Brajnović, xurban_collective (zombie edition) and Yeni Anıt from Portİzmir and Akın Aksu, Georgios Katsagelos, Jakob Gautel, Korhan Başaran Nikita Alexeev, Pınar Yolaçan, Reysi Kamhi and Yeni Anıt from previous editions of the Çanakkale Biennial, are brought together, aiming to remind the production and experience memory of periodical events.
In the context of the current pandemic conditions, as well as under the effect of the earthquake that occurred in Izmir recently all exhibitions and panels are organised online.
