Urban Ecology Tours / Izmir-Çanakkale

The 7th Çanakkale Biennial, titled “Constellation”, is designed to bring forward its interactions and collaborations trough different projects and events spread over six months. One of these projects is Urban Ecology Tours, which is implemented with the support of Spaces of Culture and aim to look at the cultural heritage of İzmir and Çanakkale through their ecology and flora. The project, which is realized by the photographer Tarık Gök in partnership with CABININ (ÇanakkaleBiennial Initiative), focuses on the monumental trees and flora of these two maritime trade cities, reflecting their historical depth, and their ecological memory that continues to exist within the urban fabric. Urban Ecology Tours, implemented with the consultancy of experts and researchers from on urban history, ecology, architecture, and design from Izmir and Çanakkale and with audio-visual recordings of Tarık Gök, will be available online as of December 2020.
