DOĞ Collective Exhibition
The “DOĞ” exhibition, which brings together the works produced by 6 artists who are tired of the grayness of cities, using materials from nature and inspired by it; carries their longing and desire for greenery, nature, to Mahal Sanat in their lives surrounded by rising, hard, angular, concrete walls."
Ayça focuses on visual researches dominated by dark shadows in her recent works produced by using charred remains of firewood and various organic materials she finds from nature. What is left from the cycle of nature forms the basic material of her works and finds expression in the idea of recycling.
Berna, "... in her works, decisively and aggressively analyses an inevitable reality, the environmental pollution that threatens the global future and the negative effects of this reality on human beings. Dolmacı's determination is especially evident in the way she works by living in nature and establishing a direct relationship with it during the process of producing her works, and in her use of organic materials known in daily life. She presents these works, which she realises with organic materials produced by living and working in nature, as an act of improvement for the future of the global environment..." (Beral Madra 2023)
Without seeing herself from afar and without judgement, Büşra focuses only on movement and keeping the trees she has accumulated in her consciousness alive in the simplest way: "When I step back and look back, I also think that the branches I create are the paths in my consciousness. In the "tree installation" in which I covered a tree I depicted with these movements with its own seeds, I explored the endless cycle of the seed and the tree. Recently, I have focused on the relationship between the roots of the tree reaching back to the past and my own roots, my family, our past, our collective memory."
For Derin, painting is a way of thinking about relationships in her art practice: "It also provides me with an experimental space where I seek harmony with shapes and colours. Experimenting with different materials and methods in the production process is an important part of my practice. Spontaneity and discovery are important sources I draw on in the creative process. The subject matter often comes from the relationships between beings and elements of nature. In recent years I have been exploring ways of collaborating with nature in the creative process and have been experimenting with natural dyes and materials."
Dilara continues to produce by leaning on traditional practices while focusing on the essence of her self. While reconnecting with her origins, she transforms the miniature tradition into a performative gesture by using real gold paint obtained by crushing gold leaf with her fingers, especially on acid-free and semi-permeable papers coloured with natural dyes. These materials allow her to reflect the deep traces and timelessness of nature in her works.
In Gülfidan's artistic practice, based on archaeological sites, primitive architectural examples, ruins and their bird's eye views, she produces large and small forms that emphasise the relationship between form and space, their compositions and field installations that communicate with the space (nature or architecture) where they are located.
6 women artists' original works, produced with their sensitivity, longing and curiosity towards nature, intuition, sincerity and devotion, are on display at MAHAL Art in the framework of “DOĞ” exhibition.
