FlashBack
Opened on 27 January at MAHAL Sanat, "FlashBack" is a selection of works shown in the Çanakkale Biennial, which has left 16 years and 8 editions behind. Bringing together the works of 7 artists who participated in different editions, the exhibition takes the viewer on a journey into the memory of the biennial. The exhibition includes original works for Çanakkale by Cem Demir, Radenko Milak, Komet and Sylvia Lüdtke, as well as works by Khaled Jarrar, Mustafa Okan and Seydi Murat Koç that engage in dialogue with the conceptual frameworks of different editions of the Çanakkale Biennial. "FlashBack" aims to recall the productions made with different mediums such as painting, drawing, video and photography, which reflect ironic, fictional or poetic approaches to the historical layers of the city and its human, social and ecological connotations. The exhibition, organised by Burak Topçakıl, also includes a section from the archive consisting of printed materials, editions, workshop outputs, reproduced and distributed art projects that reflect the visual memory of the Çanakkale Biennial. "Flashback", the first of the exhibitions and events focusing on the urban memory created by the Biennial, will be at MAHAL between 27 January-12 March.
