Mapping the Marmara Region: Çanakkale

Çanakkale has been selected as the "Preliminary Biopsy Area for 2023" in this year of the "Mapping the Marmara Region" study, organized for the third time within the scope of MARUF on the Go, in cooperation with the Union of Marmara Municipalities and AURA Istanbul, an independent research institute. Reflecting the main factors shaping the natural and social conditions of the region, Çanakkale region, which has been home to physical layers dating back to ancient cultures, also carries iconic identities that differentiate from each other in certain historical periods. From the macro relations of the 21st century world to site-specific microhabitats, the region presents a variable texture with different types and scales of interactions.

MAHAL was one of the local stakeholders of the Aura Istanbul team, which conducted a series of interviews and research in Çanakkale between August 17-20.

The outputs of "Mapping the Marmara Region: Çanakkale" was exhibited at the Istanbul Congress Center between October 4-6 as part of the Marmara Urban Forum / MARUF23.
