Çanakkale Biennial's "Shared Memory" at Cermodern
The "Shared Memory" exhibition, held at Cermodern between February 25th and April 14th, is the first comprehensive memory and collection selection of the Çanakkale Biennial, which is preparing for its 9th edition in the autumn of 2024 and is one of the most original practices in the contemporary art scene in Turkey. Bringing together the productions of 35 artists spanning a period of 20 years, the exhibition reveals an original art memory concerning the area covered by the collective memory of the city of Çanakkale.
The ancient narratives, cultural ecosystem laden with displacements and encounters, tensions and relaxations, knots and resolutions of the city of Çanakkale, with its potential energy filled with a fertile nature and geostrategic position, holds a very special place in our collective memory. The "Shared Memory" exhibition brings together a comprehensive selection of works reflecting the sensitivities of artists, enriching them with different layers and connections, which bring together all the connotations of this memory space with the aesthetic, conceptual, sensory, and poetic interpretations of contemporary art, for art enthusiasts in Ankara.
Taking guidance from the forms and strategies of the Çanakkale Biennial, "Shared Memory" Exhibition, a fervent and powerful step towards the possibility of a "museum" on the horizon, is a desire to evolve the living and evolving art accumulation of a temporary art event sustained with stability without compromising its quality into a collection. The exhibition is at Cermodern from February 25th to April 14th.
