Ahmet was born in 1959 in Izmir. Lives and works in Istanbul.
In this work, I have rehashed a map which belongs to the year of 1946; the map must consist of 21 pieces but some
of its pieces were missing. At first, I have completed 7 missing part using the pieces of the map that I have. In the next stage, I have limited myself with items used in making maps such as paper, cloth, color, font, marks and I have created my own map without using any other item. In doing so, I have used the original frames of the map as they are, and on the remaining surfaces I changed the location and direction of the signs of physical and geographical features.
I made explicit some of the landforms and changed some boundaries.
And I have created a map which belongs to my mind, my memory and my imagination…
