Nummer veertien, home (2012) several stories are intertwined: a poetic representation of Van der Werve's childhood memories of his parental home in Papendrecht, the life of his childhood hero Alexander the Great and an account of a barely imaginable athletic achievement: a triathlon of more than 1500 kilometers. The artist swims, cycles and runs from Warsaw to Paris, bridging the distance between the official grave of the composer Frédéric Chopin and his heart, which was smuggled to Poland after his death by his sister to be buried in his native land. The film shows the beautiful landscapes in which the artist completes the triathlon and the historical locations through which Alexander the Great conducted his epic campaign never to return home.
